Experienced back-end developer (32-40h/w)

TRIMM is looking for reinforcement! This time we are looking for an experienced backend developer. If you have a background in Java or PHP and are you a medior or senior in your profession, we have a nice job for you.
What will you do as backender?
In this position, you are part of a multidisciplinary team that designs and builds customized web applications for beautiful clients such as Grolsch, Signify, KLM, Liberty Global, and Victron Energy.
You are partly responsible for architectural decisions, maintaining the quality level, and activating and inspiring your colleagues to apply the latest techniques. Within your team, you work together with UX-designers, UI-designers, front-end developers and product owners. As a backend, I mainly have contact with the front-enders and product owners. During client demos and project kick-off meetings you also get in touch with customers. This is necessary to discuss the progress of projects or to provide input on technical possibilities within a project. You get your own freedom and responsibility in this.
Some examples of projects:
- Various hardware projects such as the self-developed LoRaWAN module (from concept to product) and applications with e-paper displays intended for real-time business intelligence reporting;
- Online platforms, such as the new Grolsch site;
- A video platform with which the user can compose a company video himself;
- Dashboarding projects, such as the VRM portal for Victron Energy and the Online Management Tool from Ziggo;
- Other examples can be found here.
What are we looking for?
The back end of our projects is written in Java or PHP. However, it can happen that another language fits better within a project. Therefore, we do not have a fixed set of technologies in which we develop our projects; we choose 'the right tool for the job'.
Technologies used by the TRIMM backenders during the past year are, among others, Java projects: Spring Boot, ElasticSearch, GraphQL, Maven and jUnit. For PHP projects we used Symfony (a lot of Drupal), Laravel, Composer and PHPUnit.
In addition, we used container technology (Docker), various DevOps principles and GitLab CI in almost all projects. If you do not manage all of this, then you will get enough space and support at TRIMM to fully develop yourself.
We can offer you this!
-
You will be co-responsible for award-winning projects for international A-brands!
-
An employment contract of 32 or 40 hours. You'll choose!
-
Good primary and secondary employment conditions;
-
An appropriate salary;
-
Attention to substantive professional growth and personal development;
-
Young and friendly teams with passionate people;
-
A comfortable workplace in our open and modern building in the Enschede district Roombeek. We do not work flexible workplaces.
What are we looking for?
For this function we are looking for a person with the following characteristics:
-
You can work independently. You are responsible for your own agenda and meeting deadlines;
-
A sense of responsibility. You find it important to deliver high-quality work on time.
-
You bear responsibility for the quality of your own work, make agreements with your colleagues and indicate prematurely when things take longer than estimated;
-
You take initiative. When you see opportunities for improvement, you can do this within the team;
-
You take into account the code quality (complexity, unit/integration testing, maintainability of the code);
-
You will more than once be a sparring partner for the team within this position. You like helping your colleagues;
-
You have experience in creating and monitoring software architecture.
-
We expect you to be present at our office in Enschede for at least 3 days per week.
